Senior Health, Safety and Wellbeing Manager
Bedford (home based with travel)
Up to £80,000 + Car or Allowance & Excellent benefits
Irwin and Colton have been engaged by a UK-leading, Highways Specialist Contractor to recruit a Senior Health, Safety and Wellbeing Manager to work across multiple civils projects on their Highways contracts. This role will also be managing a team of site-based Health and Safety Advisors that operate at a technical level.
As such, any experience managing a team on Highways projects or with National Highways would be beneficial. This role will require the successful candidate to be home based and visit project sites UK wide where required.
Responsibilities of the Senior Health, Safety and Wellbeing Manager will include:
Visiting site, assisting, and advising project managers to ensure they can achieve the efficient and effective delivery of the Health, Safety and Wellbeing strategy
Interfacing with both the client and key internal stakeholders
Leading on accidents and investigations as well as incident reporting and identifying the root cause
Managing a team of site based HSW Advisors UK wide
Addressing the existing systems of work to identify any flaws or training requirements necessary to improve culture
The successful Senior Health, Safety and Wellbeing Manager will have:
Proven experience in a similar role within civil engineering, ideally highways or infrastructure
Proven experience with managing a health and safety team
A NEBOSH or NVQ5 (or equivalent) and ideally Chartership of IOSH
Excellent communications skills with proven experience engaging clients and contractors
A strong technical knowledge across relevant health and safety legislation, compliance and regulations
