Head of SHEQ | Sussex/Kent (With site travel) | £70,000 + Car/Allowance + Benefits
Irwin & Colton has been engaged by a high profile civil engineering contractor operating in the utilities industry to recruit a Head of SHEQ. The role is focused on leading a team of Regional Health and Safety Advisors to ensure the delivery of the health and safety strategy across the organisation. The organisation has long term contracts with the largest utility providers across water, gas, and electricity with health and safety performance being a central priority to the organisation.
Responsibilities for the successful Head of SHEQ will include:
- Leading a regional team ensuring the implementation of health and safety policies and procedures on site
- Keeping updated with key changes to legislation and ensuring the organisation remains compliant
- Engaging with senior managers, clients and external stakeholders ensuring responsibilities are clear and answering technical health and safety related enquires
- Continually developing and reviewing the health and safety management system in line with industry best practice
The successful Head of SHEQ will have:
- Proven experience in a similar role within civil engineering and utilities, ideally with street works experience
- Ideally a NEBOSH/NCRQ Diploma or NVQ 5 (or equivalent) and experience with ISO standards
- The ability to influence and engage key internal and external stakeholders
- A strong technical knowledge across relevant health and safety legislation, compliance and regulations
Strong management systems experience would be an advantage and a UK Driver's license is essential for the successful candidate. (Job reference AH1773)
