Global HSE Director

We're delighted to be working with Garrett Advancing Motion, the pioneer of automotive turbocharging for more than 60 years, to recruit a new Global Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Director. Garrett are the worlds leader in turbo technology solutions and an experienced supplier of electric boosting products and automotive software to support passenger cars, commercial vehicles and off highway equipment.

Garrett has a turnover in excess of $3.5bn and a large global footprint. This role is specifically responsible for leading on Health, Safety and Environment strategy for the company in line with their overall ESG agenda.

The role will oversee and lead the HSE activities of a large team supporting multiple sites globally, covering manufacturing, assembly, research and development and corporate offices. The role will report to the Board on all matters relating to Health, Safety & Environment.

Responsibilities of the Global Health, Safety and Environment Director will include:

  • Leading the overall global strategy for health, safety and environment, supporting the drive toward a comprehensive HSE Management System

  • Driving improvements in safety performance through strategic gap analysis, developing programmes to close gaps and strive for best practice globally

  • Coaching, managing and mentoring a team of HSE leaders across various global regions

  • Developing, deploying and implementing environmental sustainability programs in line with Garrett's ESG agenda

  • Engaging across the business, including working with business unit leads, functions leads and heads of operation, to drive a positive safety culture

The successful Global Health, Safety and Environment Director candidate will have:

  • Proven experience in large and complex global organisations, ideally within manufacturing, engineering or an industrial environment

  • Proven leadership and management experience within a global matrix, multi-site role and an ability to communicate and engage with a wide range of stakeholders

  • A strong technical knowledge across relevant health, safety and environmental legislation

  • Relevant professional qualifications and membership of relevant professional body
