If so, you may be interested in the Environmental Manager role I'm recruiting for. This newly created position sits within a highly successful infrastructure contractor with a turnover of over £1 billion and a strong track record in delivering major construction and energy projects. With continued rapid growth, the role will focus on high-profile energy infrastructure developments across the South East, playing a key role in managing environmental risk on large and complex schemes, including overhead lines, cabling, and substations in ecologically sensitive areas.

Responsibilities for the Environmental Manager will include:

  • Provide practical environmental guidance across live construction sites, managing permits, consents, surveys, and mitigation measures to ensure compliance and minimise risk.
  • Lead site inspections, audits, and investigations, addressing findings and embedding improvements.
  • Support and enhance the Integrated Management System, maintaining ISO 14001 compliance and promoting high environmental standards with project teams, clients, and partners.
  • Contribute to pre-construction and work-winning activities, monitor environmental performance, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

The successful Environmental Manager will have:

  • A degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant environmental or technical field.
  • Member of IEMA (PIEMA), ideally actively working toward Chartered status, and recognised internal auditing qualifications.
  • Strong understanding of ISO14001 Environmental Management Systems and practical implementation experience.
  • Proven ability to work effectively within teams, manage multiple tasks, and influence stakeholders.
