Health and Safety Advisor

Salary: Circa £50,000 plus Excellent Benefits
Irwin and Colton are delighted to be engaged by a renowned research and development facility to recruit a Health and Safety Advisor to join their operational safety team. This position will play a leading role with regard to Chemical Safety and advising on regulatory requirements within the facilities environment.
The organisation is a diverse and complex institution that includes scientific, R&D and laboratory environments, and health and safety is a top priority. This position works collaboratively with other support services to deliver integrated and efficient support.
Responsibilities for the Health and Safety Advisor will include:
- Ensuring consistent processes are in place to ensure regulatory compliance and reduction of risk
- Supporting and advising users on health and safety compliance in new labs and refurbishment projects
- Developing and establishing key relationships with the Directors of relevant departments and other key stakeholders across the organisation
- Providing timely reports of all safety and health activity to senior management as required
The successful Health and Safety Advisor will have:
- Proven experience in a similar Health and Safety role, ideally from within scientific research, universities, containment facilities, chemical or similar environment
- Bioscience or chemical degree/qualifications
- NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent as a minimum and membership of relevant body (e.g., IOSH)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with experience influencing and engaging with a wide range of stakeholders
