Irwin and Colton have been engaged by a major civil engineering and demolition specialist to hire an Environment and Sustainability Coordinator to work at the group function. This role will work on a range of civil engineering, construction, and demolition projects, and will join an established and growing Environment and Sustainability team. This will offer the selected candidate the opportunity to work closely with experienced professionals, and gain exposure to a number of large projects.
This organisation has a track record of successfully delivering high-profile projects and the environmental agenda is core to their operations.
Key responsibilities of the Environment and Sustainability Coordinator will include:
- Supporting the delivery of the environmental policy, ensuring compliance with legislation and regulations across a wide range of projects
- Carrying out site inspections and audits, undertaking environmental and sustainability assessments such as BREEAM
- Helping to maintain the Environmental Management System, and assisting in preparation for Environmental Management Plans, Site Waste Management Plans, and permit consents.
- Monitor environmental performance of projects, seeking opportunities for improvement.
The successful Environment and Sustainability Coordinator requires:
- Qualified in an appropriate environmental discipline, and ideally professional membership with a recognised environmental body (IEMA, CIEEM, CIWEM)
- Environment or sustainability experience ideally within the construction, civils or related sector, or a keen interest in the sector
- Ideally knowledge on ISO14001, and BREEAM
- A passion for excellence, and an ambition to grow and develop a career within the environmental space.
