Where we started
Unite were looking to reshape their Health, Safety and Fire team and the organisational structure of the department. As part of that process they determined they wanted a Senior Exec level Director to lead the Safety Function. Whilst a permanent Director candidate was secured they needed an interim to begin developing the new strategy and to provide risk assurance across the business in the meantime.
How we helped
To find an Interim Safety Director. We used our extensive network of highly experienced interim and contract Health & Safety professionals to provide the Board and Chief Executive a shortlist of suitable candidates. The field of candidates was very strong and multiple candidates made it through to final stages. An offer could have been made to either of the 2 final candidates.
The successful candidate
The Interim Safety Director is a true leadership position. It required a candidate with not only the right experience but also the confidence to work with senior management and lead the function successfully from day one. The candidate grasped the operational and strategic demands of the role quickly and began adding value from week one. The selected candidate had extensive experience performing similar exec level positions across large corporates.
